Trade and Professional Associations

Trade associations are a great source of information. Many trade associations develop industry and market information for their members. Marketing information may aslo be available in journals published by trade associations. Professional associations are also a great source of experts in a field. To identify and locate associations, use these resources:

  • Associations on the Net (Internet Public Library)
    A guide to Web sites of prominent organizations and associations.

  • Encyclopedia of Associations
    The Encylopedia of Associations is a comprehensive reference tool of detailed information concerning more than 100,000 nonprofit membership associations worldwide. It is available in hard copy in both the Drake Law Library and the Drake University Cowles Library reference areas. The full text of the Encyclopedia of Associations is available electronically via LEXIS (Area of Law - By Topic > Human Resources > Legal Reference Materials > Encyclopedia of Associations or Filename: ENASSC). It is not available in LEXIS-NEXIS Academic Universe.

    This searchable directory service is sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives. It takes you directly to many of the associations currently operating on the Web.
